Now, while it is true that Rick and Morty is a show mainly about the strange escapades of a teenage boy and his genius scientist grandfather; this show is very much not one that you would settle in the whole family to watch.
I discovered this show completely by accident. I was actually forced to watch it because of one of my jobs, and I am so glad I had to. I had to look into how the show and its characters worked because of a script writing assignment and it made me a loyal viewer.
The basic idea is that after being gone for almost two decades Rick Sanchez returns to his daughter’s life and moves in with her and her family (much to the dismay of her husband). Rick’s daughter Beth is a horse surgeon, her husband Jerry is in advertising, and they have two teenage children Summer and Morty living the lives of your average teenager.
Beth’s garage becomes Rick’s laboratory and her son Morty becomes Rick’s companion for Ricks sci-fi adventures throughout the many dimensions thanks to one of Rick’s inventions, the portal gun. We soon learn that there are infinite dimensions, universes, and adventures to be had thanks to this invention and the man other gadgets that Rick creates in the garage.
This animated comedy is full of pop-culture references, moral issues, and fart jokes. Even though it is a cartoon, keep the young ones away.
This show is not only worth watching, it is worth binge watching! If you have not seen every episode so far, open up your Hulu account and start clicking.
